"Care For Casualties"

Since our formation in 2007, The Rifles have seen almost continuous action in Iraq and Afghanistan. This commitment has come at a cost. In 5 years we have seen over 60 Riflemen Killed in Action, around 30 have lost limbs, 2 Riflemen who have been fully blinded and 2 are in neurological units and will remain there for the rest of their lives. Our very seriously injured are aged between 18 and 26 and have many years of active life ahead of them. We have approximately 300 other soldiers with serious injuries and the psychological problems that we are warned of have yet to manifest themselves. Our Battalions continue to deploy to Afghanistan and the need for our help from their regimental family will continue for many years to come. Riflemen have volunteered to risk their lives and limbs on behalf of others; we need to do all we can to support them and show our appreciation for their courage and sacrifice. Care for Casualties is an appeal that gives the severely wounded, their families and the families of our fallen Riflemen the support, the inspiration and the means to rebuild their lives and make the best of their futures. In the words of one supporter, "It’s not just the soldiers who serve, it’s their families too and we owe it to them to look after them all."

Welcome to the Invicta Military-Vehicle Preservation Society To members visiting here, you will know the the Club's aims. However, to those visitors who are not, the following pages show a little of the clubs history, aims and achievements. We are first and foremost a society of enthusiasts dedicated to the preservation and restoration of military vehicles from all periods, but mainly from WW 1 to the present day, regardless of the nation which produced or used them. The achievement for many of us comes from returning these historic vehicles to as near as possible (within limits) their original condition. In fact some of the more unusual vehicles owned by members can truly be described as unique in that they are the only surviving examples. The club takes part in many rallies and commemorative events each year and is keeping a part of history alive; the response from veterans of some of the conflicts is usually of pleasure and interest that these vehicles, and by association, they themselves have not been forgotten.

Trewan Sands Children's Trust

Caring for a child with a disability or terminal illness can be a huge responsibility, not only physically and mentally but also financially. Many of these families are on a low income or benefits as they are forced to give up work to look after their sick or disabled child, and as such rarely, if ever, get the chance to enjoy a family holiday together. Trewan Sands offer holidays through Haven Holidays at 35 sites throughout the UK. We chose Haven as not only do they offer full disabled access and fully equipped disabled holiday homes but they also help us to provide entertainment by providing Free Fun Passes to the children’s clubs, which occupies the children throughout the day and family entertainment for the evenings.

Troop Aid

What we are doing When injured troops return to the United Kingdom from the war zones they arrive back without their personal effects or clothing. The objective of TROOP AID is to supply the ‘basic essentials’ when service casualties return from serving their country overseas. Our GRAB BAGS are currently being sent to the Field Hospital in Afghanistan, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham plus the Ministry of Defence Hospital Units in Plymouth, Portsmouth and Frimley Park Hospital in Camberley. Who we are TROOP AID was founded in November 2006 by three ex servicemen as a result of a visit to Selly Oak Hospital’s Alexandra Wing in Birmingham. This is the home of the Defence Medical Welfare Services who are responsible for the welfare of all Armed Forces Personnel, male and female who have been injured during the conflict in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
